What we do not do
- There are no accounts, sign-ins or forms that collect personal information.
- The site sets no cookies.
- There are no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and we do not sell or share information about visitors.
Server logs
Like most websites, our web server keeps an access log of each request: the connecting IP address, the date and time, the address requested (searches are part of the address, so search words appear in the log), the response status and size, the page you came from, and your browser's name and version (its user-agent string). The log never contains the body of a request. We use it to keep the site running and to block abusive or automated traffic. Logs are rotated daily and deleted after 30 days. The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services.
Stored in your browser
If you change the grid size in one of the image views, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage on your device. It is never sent to us.
Outside services
- Google Fonts. Every page loads its typefaces from Google (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), so Google receives your IP address and browser details with that request. Google's privacy policy applies.
- Mapbox. Only when you open the map, your browser loads the map software and map tiles from Mapbox, which receives your IP address and browser details. Mapbox's privacy policy applies.
- DVIDS. Only in the DVIDS archive view, video thumbnails and videos load from the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service.
- war.gov and DVIDS links. Links to original files take you to those sites, where their own policies apply.
The records themselves (documents, videos, photographs and audio) are served from this site.
Declassified UAP in ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants
When you use Declassified UAP through an AI assistant, the assistant sends our server (mcp.declassifieduap.org/mcp) the request it writes for you: search words, a record code, a page number, or a filter such as an agency or a year. We use it only to return matching public records. There is no account, we do not ask for your name, email address or location, and we do not store the content of these requests.
Our web server keeps the same access log for these requests: the connecting IP address (for ChatGPT and Claude, that is the assistant provider's server rather than your device), the time, the address requested (such as "POST /mcp"), the response status and size, the referring page, and the client software's name (its user-agent string). It is kept for 30 days for security and troubleshooting, then deleted. The words of your request are not in that log. We do not sell or share this information, and this service uses no cookies, analytics or advertising. Your conversation itself is handled under your AI assistant's own privacy policy.
